Qaybti Libaaxa (The Lion’s Share) is about animals in the Somali desert who worked together to kill a large camel. Now they must decide how to divide it. Will the portions be equal? Not with the lion in charge! The other animals come to understand, “the lion’s share is not fair!

The gabaay is recited in Af Soomali by Idiris M. Cali from Roxbury, Massachusetts. He also gives an explanation in English in the second half of this video. This poem is very famous in Somali history with significance to Mohamed Abdullah Hassan (the British labeled him the Mad Mullah).
