I AM A STAR is built on a solid foundation of trust and collaboration. I AM A STAR is rooted in the Somali diaspora communities’ leadership and passion for change and the American Refugee Committee’s experience and expertise, and it makes room for the solidarity and creativity of motivated people everywhere. This grassroots movement began with Neighbors Initiative, a program that empowers members of the Somali Diaspora to create their own campaigns to unite and mobilize people to provide desperately needed humanitarian relief in Somalia. I AM A STAR is the global expansion of that effort.
Together, we’re providing famine relief in Somalia, and shining a light on a culture of poets, artists, mothers and fathers, children, innovators, farmers, businesspeople…human beings. Each one, a star in his or her own right. www.iamastar.org
